Union College mourns the loss of friend and colleague Jeannette Wetmore, who passed away Monday morning, Nov. 16. from complications arising from previously undiagnosed cancer.
Jeannette graduated from Union in 2003 with degrees in communication and English, and went on to earn her master’s in library and information science from the University of North Carolina. She has worked in the Union College library since 2008 as the public services librarian and an assistant professor, and was a driving force in the library’s research assistance program.
She will be greatly missed. Please keep Jeannette’s family and the entire Union College family in your prayers. In this time of sadness, let us all lean on the hope of Christ’s soon return to end the hurt in our broken world.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 20 in the Heartland Hall of the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lincoln. The service will also be streamed live and archived on UCLive.
A viewing will also be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Home (4300 O St.).
Jeannette frequently wished for more money for book purchases. In her honor, her family has set up a fund to support acquisitions at the Union College library. If you would like to make a gift in her honor, you may send donations to the Advancement Office at Union College.
